VIETNAM. LETHAL INJECTION PROPOSED AS EXECUTION METHOD

Vietnam's justice ministry has proposed legislation introducing lethal injections as an alternative method of carrying out death sentences, a ministry official said. The legislation, whose drafting was completed on June 21, is part of reforms to the methods of executing people, said the official, refusing to be named.
"It has to be officially ratified by the National Assembly," the official said.
"The draft legislation also authorizes the family of the executed people to receive their ashes or their bodies to be buried."
