VIETNAMESE POST OFFICE CLERK SENTENCED TO DEATH FOR THEFT

a court in Vietnam's southern province of Bac Lieu sentenced a female post office clerk to capital punishment for theft, national TV reported. The 52 year old woman, Tang Thi Ba, was convicted of stealing over 15.3 billion Vietnamese dong (around $1 million) by a court. The money, which was taken from a cash desk over a three year period between October 2003 and late 2006, was spent on gambling and holidays. Five other people, including the head of the post office, were found guilty of 'irresponsibility leading to serious consequences' and sentenced to up to six years in jail.
