Wei Licheng, 39, a serial rapist convicted of attacks on 15 women and four children and 20 robberies was sentenced to death by a Beijing court. Wei was convicted of carrying out the crimes between June 2000 and November 2001 in the rural Beijing county of Yanqing. Wei had previously been sentenced to 14 years for rape in 1984. A partner of Wei's, Zhang Baoliang, was sentenced to 20 years for his participation in the robberies and for the rape of one woman.
