Yelena Timchenko, a female of Russian citizenship, was sentenced to death in China's Yongan province for drug smuggling, a report from the Russian Foreign Ministry revealed. The 24-year woman had been arrested by Chinese authorities with 955gr of heroin on her. "The investigation lasted for quite a long time, as Timchenko proved to be a drug trafficker, rather than the organizer of a criminal business. She refused to cooperate with the investigation, and the court, which tried her for several months beginning in April, sentenced her to the death penalty with a reprieve of two years," the document stated.
