A court in Bangladesh convicted Abdus Salam, 27, Nazrul Islam, 25, and Selim, 25, in absentia and condemned them to death for murder. The convicts were activists for the Chhatra League, the victim a Chhatra League party member. According to the prosecution, the three men picked up Abu Zafar, 25, from Kalapatia village, dragged him into a taxicab and stabbed him to death on March 5, 1998 following an intra-party conflict.
