A Pasig City court sentenced a man to die by lethal injection for the abduction of a Chinese businessman in 1998. Jun C. de Guzman, alias Henry Javellona alias Feliciano de la Cruz, was found guilty of kidnapping for ransom while he was acquitted on ground of reasonable doubt of the crime of robbery for allegedly stealing a gold bracelet, ring, and cash of businessman Laurence Lim amounting to P10,400.00.
Another defenadant accused of the same kidnapping Eugenio Cruz was acquitted for insufficient evidence, and two accomplices Merlyn Calano, and Rogelio Trecho alias Gamay are still at large.
