Abdul Bashir was executed by hanging in Mymensingh's central jail, Bangladesh, in the early hours of the morning

Abdul Bashir was executed by hanging in Mymensingh's central jail, Bangladesh, in the early hours of the morning. Bashir, 35, was hanged to death at 12.30am in presence of the deputy commissioner, a civil surgeon and senior officials. He had earlier been condemned to death by the district judge for murdering Hazrat Ali and his mother Zulekha Khatoon on September 16, 1995 over a land dispute. The death sentence had been confirmed by the High Court and the President had rejected his mercy petition. The execution was carried out by a long time prisoner of the jail.
