BANGLADESH. MAN SENTENCED TO DEATH FOR MURDER

a court in Manikganj, Bangladesh, sentenced Kitab Ali to death for murder. Ali of Bangla village in Horirampur burst into tears when the judge pronounced the verdict in the crowded courtroom. According to the prosecution, Kitab chopped his co-villager Shirin Akhtar to death as she refused his sexual advances on May 14, 1994. Three others involved in the case were acquitted.
