a tribunal in Noakhali, Bangladesh, sentenced a man to death for killing his wife three years ago. The condemned convict was Nazim Uddin, 46, of Aozbalia village of Sadar upazila. According to the prosecution, he strangled his wife Khaleda Akhter Roma, 30, at his house on February 21, 2005, following a family feud. The victim’s father filed a murder case with Sudharam thana accusing Nazim Uddin, his younger brother Nizam and his wife Shilpi Begum. After examining the witnesses and records, Judge Monir Ahmed Patwary of the Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal handed down the verdict. The court however acquitted the two other accused as their guilt was not proved.
