BANGLADESH. TRADER SENTENCED TO DEATH IN CHITTAGONG FOR MURDER

a court in Chittagong, Bangladesh, convicted Abdur Rashid, a trader, and sentenced him to death for the murder of another businessman. Rashid, 32, was an inhabitant of the Patharghata area in Kotwali thana. Five other accused in the case were acquitted, as the allegations against them "could not be proved".
According to the prosecution, the convict abducted Avijit Mazumder Mithu, 26, from Pathorghata village on February 13,1993 following a business feud. His body was later found dumped in the Sholosahar forest- research area.
