a woman has been sentenced to death by the Shanghai Higher People's Court, China, after being convicted of murdering her in-laws to steal their property. The court also ordered Chen Bijun, 28, to pay a fine of 20,000 yuan (US$2,500). On February 24, Chen conspired with a man, Yu Qin, who had since died of disease in detention, to kill her parents-in-law in their home. The duo made off with 14,000 yuan in cash and more than 3,000 yuan worth of jewellery.
