Five people were sentenced to death in Bangladesh for killing Rafiqul Islam, 30, on December 29, 2000

Five people were sentenced to death in Bangladesh for killing Rafiqul Islam, 30, on December 29, 2000.
Those sentenced to death were Mohammed Ali, Tajul Islam, Lal Mohammed Biswas, Abdar Ali and Md Farid Ali. Abdar Ali was currently on the run.
According to the prosecution, the convicts stopped Rafiqul, who was on his way to see a relation, shot him and stole his motorbike.
He died later in hospital. Two of the victim's companions, who were on another motorbike, managed to flee the scene.
