four people were sentenced to death in absentia in Bangladesh for the murder of Sekander Howlader in Kalikapur town in Patuakhali district. The judge of the speedy trial tribunal also sentenced four others, two of them in absentia, to life imprisonment for the murder Howlader, 30, on January 4, 2001. Those sentenced to death were Abul Hossain Mridha, Delwar Hossain, Monir Mridha and Golam Maola, all of them had remained fugitive since the incident.
