In celebration of the Day of the Hearts, 26 inmates of the New Bilibid Prisons (NBP) tied the knot with no lesser personality than Justice Secretary Hernando B. Perez standing as their principal sponsor.
For the first time, a mass wedding was held at the Muntinlupa prison facility, where prisoners and their better halves were joined in the sacrament of matrimony in a ceremony especially arranged for them by the Bureau of Corrections. Two women prisoners from the Women's Correction Facility in were also transported to the NBP to join the ceremony. Of the inmates who tied the knot, two face the death penalty while 17 are serving life sentences.
