INDIA: HIGH COURT CONFIRMS DEATH SENTENCE FOR RAPE OF 3-YR-OLD

the Nagpur bench of Bombay High Court in India confirmed the death sentence of Rajendra Wasnik, 28, for the rape and murder of a three year old girl. Justices Ambadas Joshi and R C Chavan dismissed Wasnik's appeal and said he showed “a totally brutal, depraved and scheming mind.” Police records said Rajendra abducted his neice, three-year-old Vandana, on March 2, 2007. Vandana's naked body was found in the field next morning. The post-mortem revealed that she was raped, sodomised, assaulted and had died due to asphyxia.
