ITALY. MAN RISKS DEATH PENALTY IF EXTRADITED

Italy’s Interior Minister, Giuseppe Pisanu, put out an extradition order on Moroccan national Mohamed Daki, acquitted of taking part in international terrorism a week previously by a Milan tribunal. The presence of the Moroccan national in Italy constitutes for the Minister a “serious threat to public order and a danger to state security”.
The judge which acquitted Daki, Clementina Forleo, refused to give the green light to the extradition, a decision applauded by the head of the Italian Council for Refugees, Christopher Hein, who stated that anyone convicted of terrorism in Morocco risked the death penalty.
