Journalists with Botswana Television (BTV) protested the decision by authorities to stop the broadcast of a scheduled documentary on Mariette Bosch. Journalists protested what they saw as "State interference" in the station's editorial independence. Director of Information and Broadcasting Andrew Sesinyi, a former private secretary to President Festus Mogae, was quoted as saying he received a directive from "higher authorities" to stop the broadcast, which was considered "unacceptable." Protesting what they saw as "State interference" in the station's editorial independence, angry BTV sent a strong letter to Sesinyi, expressing their fear and shock at the "arbitrary" action.
