Ma Jiajue, a university student convicted of killing four of his classmates and stuffing their bodies into a dormitory closet, was executed in southwestern China's Yunnan province.
Ma , 22, was executed in Kunming city immediately after the provincial high court issued the execution order. Ma, a student at Yunnan University and from a poor rural family in neighboring Guangxi province, was convicted in April of killing his four male classmates with a hammer between February 13 and 15.
Their bodies were found decomposing on February 23 by students returning from the Lunar New Year holidays.
According to court findings, three of the students had repeatedly insulted Ma over his impoverished background and his inability to return home during the holiday due to a lack of finances.
The fourth victim had tried to persuade Ma against carrying out the murders. Ma refused to appeal the April death sentence handed down by a Kunming intermediate court.
