Irwan Amat, 32, from Sabah, was found guilty of murdering Jibal Salim, 34, after a fight over the use of a public telephone in Malaysia. Judge Datuk Syed Ahmad Helmy Syed Ahmad of the High Court sentenced Irwan to death for stabbing the labourer nine times, ripping his stomach open. Jibal's brother told the court that before he died Jibal said that it was Irwan that stabbed him. The offence occurred at the parking lot of Cempaka Block, Country Homes, Rawang, on October 16, 2003.
