More than 90 non-Pashtu Afghans were shot dead by the Taleban in a village near Aibak, in the Taleban-controlled Samangan province. No charges had been brought against them.
Several dozen fanatics burst into the homes of peaceful shepherds and farmers, who had been neutral through the years of confrontation, and took away teenagers and young men to their camp at gunpoint. According to eyewitnesses, the youngsters were put into three cars and executed not far away from the village. An Afghan diplomat said they may have been killed for not being ethnic Pashtus like the Taleban gunmen.
