On February 4, Presiding Judge Tan Sri Lamin Yunus of the Court of Appeal upheld the conviction and death sentence pronounced by the High Court against Che Omar, 35. He was sentenced to death on November 21, 1997 after being found guilty of the murder of his wife, Maray Chelek anak Rindat alias Nur Afiza Abdullah, at Kuching's Satok Sunday Market on March 2, 1996. They were married in Padang Besar in 1993, and had a daughter.
