On September 22, thousands of citizens protested in Prishtina, demanding the release of 7,000 Albanians being held as prisoners of war in Serbian prisons. The identification of 97 Albanians executed in Dubrave Prison and buried in a mass grave near Istog, was begun recently. But nothing was known about the fate of thousands of Albanians arrested and kidnapped by the Serbian forces. Meanwhile, the Council for Human Rights and Freedoms in Prishtina reported the execution of two Albanian prisoners at a Belgrade prison.
