Rahim Akon, 38, was sentenced to death and Shahjahan Raree, 42, to life imprisonment by a court in Bangladesh for the murder of a neighbour. Seven others were acquitted. According to the prosecution, they attacked the home of Mafez Raree at Darirchar Khazuria village at about 3pm on October 11, 1999 following a dispute. Mafez, Yunus, Wazed and Saiful Raree were seriously injured in the attack. Yunus succumbed to his injury at Mehendiganj hospital the same day.
