Rashed and Joynul Haq alias Ripon were sentenced to death and three others to life imprisonment after being convicted by the Second Additional Metropolitan Sessions Court in Dhaka, Bangladesh, of killing Amirul Islam.
The court also fined the convicts Tk 30,000 each. Those who were jailed would have to undergo three more years imprisonment they failed to pay the fine.
According to the prosecution, on May 8, 1996, the convicts abducted Amirul Islam at gunpoint from a construction site in the city.
They took Islam to the Shahjahanpur Railway Colony were they shot him dead over a previous argument.
