Ronald Keith Boyd, 43, black, was executed by lethal injection. He was pronounced dead at 00:21. He had been convicted of killing Richard Oldham Riggs, a 32 year old policeman, on 7th January, 1986. He was the fifth person to be executed in the State during the year, the 24th since the State resumed executions in 1990. He was the 30th to be executed in the U.S. during the year and No 628 since the death penalty was re-introduced in 1976.
