Small-sized Henan Securities' former Chairman and General Manager Hu Yan was sentenced to death for corruption and the misuse of corporate funds, the Shanghai Securities News reported.
The sentence was passed by the intermediate court of Hebi city in Henan province and was suspended for two years.
Hu's ex-husband Xu Jianshe was sentenced to 20 years in prison and fined 200,000 yuan ($1=CNY8.28) for his role. Both Hu and Xu are appealing the decision.
The report didn't elaborate on the charges, but only said that the couple allegedly misused more than CNY10 million in company funds. The court recovered CNY3.48 million and $63,669 from the couple.
The case is reportedly the mainland's largest fund embezzlement case involving officials of securities companies.
The couple were arrested in September and the court started the hearing July 26.
