The Intermediate People's Court in Chaozhou, Guangdong Province, sentenced Chen Zuolong, alleged head of a triad organization, to death, the Guangzhou Daily reported. In 1994, Chen was sentenced to death with reprieve of two years but escaped. The paper said that Chen joined a triad organization headed by Zheng Huang. In 1998, Zheng died and Chen organized the gang to open "underground" casinos, and carry out blackmail, homicide, kidnapping and firearms trafficking, the paper reported.
