State media reported that two murderers, one who beat his parents to death with a metal bar and one who killed his wife with rat poison, were executed in the Chinese capital Beijing.
One of the two executed, a college student surnamed Zhan, was convicted of bludgeoning his parents to death after they refused to help him pay his gambling debts, the Beijing Star Daily reported.
The other, an unemployed man identified as Qiao Jinming, poured rat poison into his wife's strawberry drink after a dispute, according to the paper.
His wife did not die immediately and was taken to hospital, but Qiao's claim that she was suffering from food poisoning led to a misdiagnosis and ultimately caused her death, the paper said.
