Tang Zhangbin was executed after being convicted of murder and robbery by the Shanghai No 2 Intermediate People's Court. It was reported that on 11 September 2002, Tang broke into an apartment in Lujiabang Road, where he threatened the housekeeper and deprived her of 700 yuan (US$84). He then waited for the house-owner. When the woman arrived, Tang hit her on the head and stole 10,000 yuan from her. Fearing that she would call the police, Tang stabbed the woman to death, the Shanghai daily reported.
