Zhou Jie, a teacher in China's north-western Xinjiang region, was sentenced to death after being convicted of raping 15 under age girls on more than 30 different occasions, state media reported. Zhou raped his victims, all aged around 15, over a two-year period ending November 2002, enticing them to his office on pretexts such as wanting to correct their homework, the Legal Daily reported. On one occasion, Zhou even raped an under-age girl in a nearby cotton field while her classmates were helping with the harvest, the paper said.
