The Hanoi Supreme People's Court, Vietnam, upheld the death sentences handed down to the three men and a woman in August 2003 for smuggling heroin and opium into the country from Laos.
Alleged ringleader Chu Van Hieu and his co-defendants were convicted of trafficking 307 kilogrammes of opium and 13.7 kilogrammes of heroin from 1995 until their arrests in 2002.
Seven other members of the gang also had their life sentences upheld while eight other defendants received prison terms ranging from 10 to 24 years.
