The Sichuan Provincial Higher People's Court made a final decision on the appeal filed by Li Yushu, former vice-mayor of Leshan City, who had been sentenced to death in the first trial for taking bribes and possessing a large amount of unaccountable wealth. The appeal was rejected and approval for Li Yushu's death sentence is to be requested from the Supreme People's Court.
On January 10, the Chengdu City Intermediate People's Court held an open hearing on Li Yushu, who was accused of bribe-taking and possession of a large amount of unaccountable wealth. The court gave him a death sentence on these two charges, plus deprivation of political rights for life and confiscation of all private property
