The Zhambyl Regional court sentenced to death Mikhail Vagner, 30, accused of being a rapist and serial killer. He was found guilty of brutally murdering two women in January 2000. The two murders, and that of a girl which is still being investigated, spread fear in Taraz as reports of a serial killer who had begun to hunt single women proliferated.
