Turfah A

Turfah A., a 25-year old woman, was sentenced to death by the Criminal Court after being convicted of murdering her husband in Aqaba in March 2003. Turfah had been found guilty by the tribunal of murdering her husband Ali S., also her cousin, in Aqaba with a machinegun while he slept in their home on the morning of March 11. The court transcript said the defendant had been married to the victim for three years prior to the incident and that the two had been constantly fighting. On the morning of the incident, the record indicated that the woman shot her husband once in the back of the head while he slept. Two days later she told another cousin what she did, offering him JD20 to help her get rid of the body with the help of another relative, the court said.
