Two drug traffickers were sentenced to death in Vietnam while two of their gang members were jailed for life.
Duong Van Hung and Song A De were convicted by the Hanoi People's Court at the end of a three-day trial.
Nguyen Thi Hang and Le Dinh Sang were sentenced to life behind bars while two other men were given a seven-year and a half and a 10-year prison sentences.
The network was broken up by Hanoi police in June 2003 for trafficking more than 3.9 kg (8.6 pounds) of heroin since early 2002 across northern Vietnam.
