The Alabama Supreme Court has told a lower court to take another look at a death penalty case from Jefferson County. The Supreme Court issued a 7-0 order Friday directing the Alabama Court of Criminal Appeals to make another review of claims by Joe Nathan James Jr. that he had ineffective legal representation in his capital murder trial in June 1999 in Jefferson County. James was convicted of the shooting death of his ex-girlfriend, Faith Hall, on Aug. 15, 1994. He was sentenced to death after the jury voted 10-2 for execution.
