Prime Minister Helen Clark disagrees with the decision by Miss New Zealand, Rachel Huljich, to attend the Miss World contest in Nigeria. Miss Clark said it is incongruous for a beauty pageant to be held in the same country that a young woman has been sentenced to be stoned to death for bearing a child out of wedlock. She said she will be writing to Miss Huljich, reiterating her views. The Prime Minister was also inviting her to take a copy of a letter she is drafting to Nigeria's President on the issue.
