The Shanghai No 1 Intermediate People's Court sentenced Wang Jie, a 29-year-old woman, to death and fined her 150,000 yuan (US$ 18,072) for murder, fraud and theft
The Shanghai No 1 Intermediate People's Court sentenced Wang Jie, a 29-year-old woman, to death and fined her 150,000 yuan (US$ 18,072) for murder, fraud and theft.
Her lover, Gao Weiguang, was also sentenced to death and fined 50,000 yuan.
It was alleged that Wang cheated her cousin's husband, Zhang Fahua, of 550,000 yuan saying she would use the money to trade stocks for them in 2001.
The couple then asked Wang to return the money and profits totalling 1.3 million yuan, as she claimed she had made, but on January 28, 2003 Wang and Gao went to Zhang's home and stabbed him to death.
