The Shanghai No 1 Intermediate People's Court sentenced Sun Chaoyue to death, with two-year probation, for drug trafficking and illegally selling, transporting and possessing guns. Another drug dealer Zhang Xinhua was sentenced to life in prison for narcotic trafficking. The court alleged that in October 2003, Sun carried 250 grams of heroin from Yunnan Province to Shanghai and sent the drug to Zhang hidden in cigarette packages. They were caught by police on January 20, 2003 when repeating the same operation.
